About Pirandai Rice Mix

Pirandai Rice Mix is a proposed addition to Green Diamond Foods' podi range, built around pirandai (Cissus quadrangularis), a plant long used in Tamil Nadu home kitchens. Like the brand's existing Moringa Rice Mix, it would be prepared as a sadha podi — a dry blend mixed into hot rice along with ghee or gingelly oil.

Product Usage

A podi of this kind is typically combined with dals such as toor and urad, along with spices including cumin, pepper, and asafoetida, and mixed directly into hot rice. It may also suit use alongside idli, dosa, or chapati, in the same way other GDF podis are used — though the exact preparation would depend on the final product formulation.

Why Green Diamond Foods

If brought into the range, Pirandai Rice Mix would be produced by Adippadai Agro Foods (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., based in Oddanchatram, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, under the guidance of Dr. K. Parameswaran, a senior horticulture scientist with over 40 years of experience — the same team behind the brand's existing moringa-based podis.

Pirandai Rice Mix or Moringa Rice Mix?

These would be two different podis if both exist. Moringa Rice Mix (already in the Green Diamond Foods range) is built around moringa leaf. Pirandai Rice Mix (proposed here) would be built around pirandai instead — both prepared the same way, mixed into hot rice with ghee or gingelly oil.
